About Me

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

I was born in a very remote village somewhere in West Java, yet life throws me here and there. I’m so much grateful for living in several countries; it opens my eyes and perspectives in seeing the world and its complex entities. It shapes me to be who I am today.

Global UGRAD Programme was my first overseas scholarship (and I would say the stepping stone onto various journeys in my life) back in 2011. I studied English and Political Science at Humboldt State University, California. The scholarship was sponsored by the US Dept. of State and managed by World Learning in Washington D.C. and AMINEF Fulbright Indonesia. I also graduated with honours from the School of Foreign Languages YAPARI Bandung in 2014 majoring in English Language and Literature.

In 2016 I was awarded the Chevening Scholarship from the UK Government to study for a master’s programme at the University of Edinburgh, UK. I was also awarded a scholarship from the University as partner scholarship.

In terms of professional experience, I used to work for several companies during and after my college (even since high school) such as a Service Coordinator/ Academic Manager and Teacher at an international school owned by Pearson and now at the Edgar Brood Academic Chair & PA International Foundation as an English Lecturer at Siliwangi University, Tasikmalaya. But if I could trace back my teaching passion, it would be from Jacoby Creek Charter School, USA where I became a teaching assistant for the 3rd graders. Up to now, I have been teaching English for various purposes for more than 10 years.

I’m currently doing a PhD degree in Teacher Education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst by the Fulbright Programme/ AMINEF.

Padahal setau saya TESOL bukan prioritas chevening. Salut mas.
Rezeki memang nggak kemana ya Mas.
Saya sudah apply chevening beberapa kali tapi gagal. Saya maklum karna TESOL bukan prioritas. Tapi nyatanya Mas Nanak buktinya bisa tembus. Luar biasa Mas.

    • Hi Kartika,

Thank you for visiting my blog. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I couldnt review any more essays due to busy schedules with my job in these past 2 months. I hope, however, it doesnt make your essays less comprehensive. Good luck with your applications.
